Perspirex Information

  • What is Perpirex antiperspirant?

Are sweat and odour causing you to feel embarrassed or self-conscious? Is excessive sweating affecting your confidence? Perspirex antiperspirant deodorant is now available as Original, Comfort and Strong. These aluminium-based treatments are applied every evening to provide a powerful, long-lasting defence against perspiration and the associated odour.

All 3 deodorants are fragrance-free and available in 20 ml bottles, dispensing small but mighty protection.

Perspirex Original - is the classic antiperspirant with the addition of a skincare system designed to protect your armpits against irritation.

Perspirex Comfort - prioritises your comfort, ensuring you stay dry without jeopardising the feel of your skin.

Perspirex Strong - is intended for those people who suffer from extreme sweating, continuing to bring you up to 5-days of protection.

    What is Perspirex used for?

Excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis is a common condition that is usually harmless but can cause people to feel embarrassed, and self-conscious and can dramatically affect self-confidence.

Perspirex antiperspirant deodorant has been specifically designed to target excessive sweating of the armpits. It uses a specific aluminium formula that has been proven to reduce even extreme cases of sweating. This formula not only helps you to say dry throughout the day but also to control body odour. Giving you the confidence to “Embrace Your Moment”.

    How does Perspirex work?

Perspirex antiperspirant deodorants are applied in a small layer over the armpit that allows the aluminium chloride to temporarily block the sweat duct preventing sweat from being able to reach the surface of the skin. This process keeps you feeling dry for up to 5 days and reduces the unpleasant odour that is caused by sweating.

Unlike other extra-effective antiperspirant deodorants, our Perspirex range also contains clinically proven skincare systems that help minimise irritation to the surrounding skin. So not only do you experience significantly less sweating your skin also remains calm and comfortable.

    How quickly does Perspirex work?

When Perspirex is used on clean, dry skin and is applied last thing at night before you go to sleep, most people will experience long-lasting results the very next day. Perspirex continues to be effective even after showering and can be used alongside your regular deodorant for maximum protection.

    Alternatives to Perspirex

Perspirex antiperspirant deodorant is just one brand of extra-protection deodorant. At The Independent Pharmacy, we stock a range of treatments including, Anhydrol Forte Solution and Driclor Roll-On.

If you have tried over-the-counter antiperspirant deodorants and are not finding them to be effective at reducing the amount you sweat you should speak to a doctor or specialist dermatologist about further treatment options.

    Sources

  • Perspirex warnings

    • Perspirex is for external use on the armpits only. Avoid contact with the eyes and do not swallow
    • Do not use it if you are allergic to any of the ingredients
    • Apply to clean, dry skin to reduce the chances of developing irritation

    Perspirex in pregnancy & breastfeeding

Perspirex can be used during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. If you have any questions you should speak to a doctor or pharmacist for advice.

  • How to use Perspirex

Perspirex is for external use only and should only be used to treat excessive sweating and odour that affects the armpits. Only apply to dry, unbroken skin that has not been shaved for at least 48 hours.

For best results Perspirex should be applied at night, this is because the sweat glands are usually less active at night allowing the formula to work more effectively.

    1. Ensure armpits are clean and dry
    2. Apply 2 rolls up and 2 rolls down to the area of skin that grows hair, 2 - 3 times a week
    3. Allow the skin to dry completely before covering
    4. Wash off the next morning
    5. Apply your regular deodorant in the morning for maximum protection

Perspirex provides between 3-5 days of protection with each application. This time frame can vary from person to person and therefore it is recommended that you see how it affects you to determine how regularly you need to apply it.

Perspirex FAQs

  • Perspirex temporarily renders sweat glands ineffective. The active ingredient, aluminium chloride, reacts with the water in the sweat gland to form a keratin plug in the gland, causing it to become dormant.

?The plug is expelled when the dead cells on the surface of the skin are shed. After this the sweat gland will become active again. For this reason, you only need to reapply Perspirex 1-3 times a week.

  • Perspirex is a unique combination of aluminium chloride in an alcohol base and the aluminium lactate buffer. The formula effectively renders sweat production inactive deep in the sweat glands while being gentle on skin.

  • Apply Perspirex on dry, unbroken skin with two upward and two downward strokes in the centre of the armpit.

  • Sweat glands are less active at night, therefore a night time application gives Perspirex more time to work.

  • Yes. You can continue to apply your regular scented deodorant or perfume. It will not affect Perspirex’s efficacy.

  • You can use Perspirex during pregnancy as it is produced according to prevailing legislation. If you have any concerns about the ingredients of Perspirex and their potential effects on your baby, please consult your doctor

  • Yes. Perspirex can be used on other parts of the body where perspiration is bothersome. Take care during application to avoid the eyes, mouth, genitals etc. Perspiration is a natural body function that helps regulate body temperature; for this reason, do not cover more than 10% of your body with an antiperspirant.

  • The alcohol without water formula in Perspirex causes the treatment to be long-lasting and gentle on the skin. Other antiperspirants contain aluminium chloride and water. They are somewhat effective against perspiration, but since their plugs form on the skin’s surface rather than in the actual sweat gland, their formulas do not last as long as Perspirex.

  • Perspirex may cause allergic reaction or skin irritation. Discontinue use if this occurs.
