Canesten Solution Information
What is Canesten Solution?
Canesten Solution contains the active ingredient clotrimazole. A fast-acting, effective anti-fungal treatment used to fight infections of the skin and ear, helping to ease itching and soothe your skin.
Each 20 ml bottle comes with a convenient dropper, making applications to your skin and ears easy and precise, minimising mess and spills.
What is Canesten Solution used for?
Fungal infections are caused by certain types of yeast or fungi that can cause itching, redness, irritation and breakdown of the skin on the body as well as the middle and outer ear.
Canesten Solution has been specifically designed with a dropper tip to treat fungal skin infections such as:
- Middle and outer ear infections
- Athletes foot
- Ringworm
- Fungal intertrigo, which affects the skin folds
How does Canesten Solution work?
The active ingredient in Canesten Solution, clotrimazole, is an antifungal agent that kills certain types of fungus that affect the skin by causing the fungal cells to become leaky and die. Applying Canesten Solution to the affected areas of the skin allows the clotrimazole to get to work quickly, targeting the source of infection.
How quickly does Canesten Solution work?
Canesten Solution gets to work quickly. Most people will feel their skin feeling less itchy and looking less red within 48 hours. It may, however, take longer for flaky or scaly skin to properly heal.
You must continue treating the infected areas of skin, including infected ears for 2 weeks after all symptoms have cleared. This is to ensure that you do not become reinfected and symptoms reappear.
Alternatives to Canesten Solution
Fungal skin and ear infections are not uncommon and therefore at The Independent Pharmacy, we aim to make it our priority to stock products that suit our valued customer’s needs.
If Canesten Solution is not right for you, EarCalm Spray is an alternative treatment that can be used to treat both fungal and bacterial ear infections.
We also stock a wide range of treatments for fungal skin infections including Canesten Cream as well as powders, gels and solutions specifically designed to treat athlete’s foot.
If you are unsure about what is the right treatment for you, you should discuss your treatment options with a pharmacist or doctor before using any medication.
